UPDATE POSTED AUGUST 27 2010 - The following is an update for the Rebuild York projects for 2010.The second year of the Rebuild York projects to mill and pave streets throughout the City is underway. The following work is scheduled for the week of August 30:

College Avenue – From Penn to George
Base work will be completed with street closures.

Philadelphia Street – From Harrison to Carlisle
Base work will start with single lane closures.


UPDATE POSTED AUGUST 6, 2010 -
The following is an update for the Rebuild York projects for 2010.The second year of the Rebuild York projects to mill and pave streets throughout the City is underway. The following work is scheduled for the week of August 9th:

Sherman Street – From Prospect to Market
Milling and Paving will take place, sections of Sherman Street will be closed to traffic and parking will be restricted.

King Street – From Penn to Broad
Base work is continuing with lane closures. Milling and Paving may begin by the end of the week.


UPDATE POSTED AUGUST 2, 2010 - The following is an update for the Rebuild York projects for 2010.
The second year of the Rebuild York projects to mill and pave streets throughout the City is underway.
The following work is scheduled for the week of August 2nd:

Sherman Street – From Prospect to Market
Base work will be completed August 2nd and 3rd.
Milling will be completed August 5th and 6th.
Sherman Street is scheduled for Paving on August 9th to August 11th.


UPDATE POSTED JULY 12, 2010 - The following is an update for the Rebuild York projects for 2010.
The second year of the Rebuild York projects to mill and pave streets throughout the City is underway. Concrete work to replace handicap curb ramps has started and base work will begin soon.

The streets scheduled for work are:
Sherman Street – From Prospect to Market
King Street – From Penn to Broad
College Avenue – From Penn to George
Philadelphia Street – From Harrison to Carlisle

Work began on Monday, June 22, 2009 with base repair and the installation of handicap ramps on the following streets. This will be followed by milling and paving.

All motorists are advised to obey posted No Parking signs for the duration of this work.


Residents and motorists can also obtain updates to the construction schedule by calling the Rebuild York Hotline at 849-2270. The milling contractor for this project is Recon Construction and the paving contractor is Fitz and Smith, Inc. C. S. Davidson is providing engineering and inspection services for the project. Questions about the projects can be directed to the Department of Public Works at 849-2245.

Work will resume on the Rebuild York projects on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. The following street is scheduled for milling and paving:  West Princess Street – Queen Street to Broad Street

This work will conclude the Rebuild York projects for 2009.


Weekly Update 

September 1, 2009 - Princess Street should be milled starting at Belvidere and ending at the Codorus Creek Bridge. Also today, the scratch course will be placed on Beaver from Princess to Market and Princess from Beaver to Pershing.

September 2, 2009 - Princess from Beaver to Pershing and Beaver from Princess to Market will be paved.

September 3 & 4, 2009 - Princess Street from Belvidere to the Codorus Creek Bridge will be paved.

Date changes - Milling will begin on Monday, August 31.  We will ensure the coordination with Fitz and Smith and will follow the same order of streets for work as posted August 20, 2009.

Work will resume on the Rebuild York projects on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. The following streets are scheduled for milling and paving:

North Beaver Street – Market Street to Princess Street

West Princess Street – Beaver Street to Pershing Avenue
                                 Bridge over the Codorus to Belvidere Avenue


Weekly Update Posted August 3, 2009

Work is complete on Linden Avenue, Madison Avenue, Butler Street, Merion Road and Mason Avenue. The remaining work on Beaver Street and Princess Street will be scheduled as soon as all utility work is complete. Updates will be provided as soon as a new schedule is made available.

Paving work for the Rebuild York projects begins Monday, July 27, 2009.  Work will start on Linden Avenue from Roosevelt Avenue to Penn Street followed by Madison Avenue from Roosevelt Avenue to Newberry Street.  Milling work will also continue on Butler Street, Merion Road and Mason Avenue.


Weekly Update Posted July 20, 2009

The Rebuild York street projects are moving ahead. Milling is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 23 on the following streets in order; Merion Road, Linden Avenue, Madison Avenue, Butler Street.  Paving will follow the milling operation and will continue until completed.  Residents are asked to observe and obey No Parking restrictions for this work.  In addition base work will continue on Mason Avenue and Princess Street through this week. Milling and Paving is tentatively scheduled for the week of August 10 for Mason Avenue, Beaver Street, and Princess Street between Pershing and Beaver.


Weekly Update Posted July 13, 2009

The handicap ramp work is moving rapidly and all ramps have been replaced on Linden, Madison, Butler, Mason, Merion, and Beaver Street. Work continues on Princess Street. The paving contractor, Fitz & Smith is slightly behind schedule and will complete base work this week on Madison, Linden and Butler. Milling and Paving on these streets will follow completion of the base work.

Contractors have completed work on handicap ramps along Butler Street, and continue work on Mason Avenue. Base repair work continues on Madison Avenue and Linden Avenue. Final Paving for Madison, Linden and Butler is still scheduled for July 15 to July 24.

Contractors have completed work on handicap ramps along Madison Avenue and Linden Avenue. Work will continue on handicap ramps on Butler Street this week. Base repair work will also begin on Madison Avenue and Linden Avenue. Final Paving for Madison, Linden and Butler is still scheduled for July 15 to July 24.
